My dear friend Sherry Sidoti returns to discuss the nature of our moment from her beautiful and deep perspective. This woman is so wonderful and wise, a mentor to many, a highly inspired Yogini, and just a light unto the world.
Originally from NYC, and transported from Los Angeles, CA, Sherry has lived on Martha’s Vineyard, MA since 2002. She feels fortunate to offer private and group yoga, teacher trainings, yoga retreats and one-on-one mentoring to many wonderful humans from around the world. Sherry teaches a soulful, fluid and dynamic practice, weaving in the spirit, magic and integrity of the yoga teachings and the practice of self awareness into every class without taking it all too seriously. Each practice is a celebration of life itself. Sherry is particularly drawn to the change that is experienced through yoga – the “play” within the body; to use breath and movement, to get to know ourselves and our nature better; and to purify the body and mindstuff so we can be more “real” in our truth. Sherry is humbled by the process of unfolding – peeling through layers – and is stricken by the sweet power of quiet mind and seat.
Sherry has more than 2500 Yoga Training hours with specialty certifications in Atma Holistic Yoga, Yin, Forrest, Prenatal/PostNatal, Sivananda, Vinyasa/Hatha, Yoga for Healing Trauma, Yoga Psychology and Svaroopa Yoga. She gives thanks to her most influential yoga & spiritual teacher, Saul David Raye, with whom she guest teaches in his teacher training and immersions. She has studied Mayan Mysticism in Mexico and Guatemala with Miguel Angel Vergara. Sherry is most devoted to her greatest teacher, her son Miles, whose love, sensitivity, sense of humor, and wisdom illuminates her path.
In addition to almost two decades of yoga teaching, Sherry holds a BA in Anthropology from Hampshire College, a MA Degree in Museum Education from New York University, is a certified Labor Doula through DONA International and is a Certified Recovery Coach through the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy©, an intensive training academy focusing on providing individuals with the skills need to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from addiction.
Sherry is an avid writer, and her musings are hosted by a number of magazines and periodicals; including her Seasonal Sanity column in The Martha’s Vineyard Times, Heart & Soul Magazine, and Elephant Journal, among others. She writes with feeling and devotion in ode to making her way through life with one foot grounded on earth and the other lifting towards spirit.
Sherry won First Place 2021 for her creative non-fiction essay, “Mosaics,” with the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.
She is currently working on her first memoir.
