This conversation with the brilliant Mory Fontanez was the most beautiful surprise as I expected one of corporate America’s top consultants to show up and talk shop, and instead discovered a spiritual teacher of unimaginable depth who is firmly grounded in the linear world. This was so inspiring and soul lifting.
Mory Fontanez is a Purpose Coach and the Founder and CEO of 822 Group. After a successful career in corporate America, a critical truth became clear to Mory – many companies operate without a true sense of purpose because their leaders do not understand their own higher purpose. Many hardened business executives still operate from a place of scarcity and fear rather than alignment with their higher calling. They have lost their connection with their own GPS. This non-alignment shows up in many ways in the day-to-day operations of companies and, they need a new system.
Enter Mory, whose new methodology transforms the outdated business model from an old framework of power dynamics to a driver of connection, empathy, social good, and success.
After noticing a widespread sense of frustration and lack of passion among colleagues and clients in the corporate world, Mory founded the 822 Group as a transformation consultancy. At 822, Mory works with clients to re-connect them to their higher purpose and thereby reveals the boundless opportunity they’ve been seeking. Through a tailored approach, she gets to the root of systemic issues, builds visionary leaders, inspires the workforce, and creates purpose-driven leaders and brands that connect with their employees and customers.
The daughter of Iranian immigrants, Mory spent her childhood in New Mexico and Colorado before relocating to Maryland. She climbed the corporate ladder of various companies to become a Managing Director of Strategy at a global PR firm. As a woman of color in a white and male dominated corporate world, she leaned in to her differences, seeing them as her superpower rather than an obstacle. This instilled a strong sense of loyalty and respect from her co-workers and employees which greatly influences Mory’s coaching methodology to this day.
Mory believes that only after understanding your own higher purpose can you experience a life well-lived, achieve true success, and make the biggest impact on your community, business, and family. She helps clients understand their higher purpose, and how to use empathy, intuition, and emotional intelligence to transform an outdated, ineffective workforce system in favor of inspirational leadership, authentic connection, and meaningful change.
Mory has shared her life-changing expertise with a variety of clients throughout the financial, technology, retail, fashion, and consumer sectors. She currently lives in Gaithersburg, MD with her fiancé and two children. In her free time, she enjoys meditating, cycling, and the outdoors. Mory also offers online training courses through LinkedIn Learning.
