Hello Paul,
Thank you for your wonderful Podcast with Stephanie James.
I enjoyed all of it; however, the part in which she described how her life was very happy until her parents divorced when she was 13 hit me deeply.
My ex-husband and I separated /divorced after 21 years of marriage in early 2019 when my daughter was 13 and my son 15.
That unfriendly event tore our family apart, and has forever changed my children, especially my daughter who is 15 now.
Although Jacob and I were mutually unhappy and divorce made us happier, we are working through the aftermath of our daughter changing with it and at time’s, she is unsure of herself and she is making decisions that are not always in her best interest.
Our Gabrielle is in one to one counseling, and my ex, Jacob and I we are also in family counseling with her focused on her and keeping on positive on track. Our son is almost 18, on great track to college, happy, thriving and doing very well, because he was older with divorce and has better understanding and ability to process the events of divorce. He did internalize it very much.
Stephanie sharing her experience helps me put myself in my daughters shoes even more.
I will discuss EMDR with the therapist our Gabrielle is seeing and further delve into Stephanies podcasts, books and watch upcoming movie.
Thank you for helping positively affect lives with your wonderful insightful powerful guests, including Stephanie.
Hugs and love, Laurie
PS…..if you or Stephanie know of peer type counselors or podcasts I could introduce to my daughter, that would be very helpful. Young adults who went through normal middle school phase with added trauma of divorce. Thank you!!
