“I think the courage to love is different than to simply love. We have the courage to love and I feel that’s what really matters. That’s why hope is so important. Hope is an act of love because it believes the future we want doesn’t have to imitate the future we are in.” — Dr. Henry Giroux (find him on Twitter, and read his books America at War With Itself and Zombie Politics)
Dr. Giroux is an American and Canadian scholar and cultural critic. One of the founding theorists of critical pedagogy in the United States, he is best known for his pioneering work in public pedagogy, cultural studies, youth studies, higher education, media studies, and critical theory. In 2002 Routledge named Giroux as one of the top fifty educational thinkers of the modern period.
Thanks Henry and Pauly for great interview! Here is a contribution to an alternative possibile world:
My partner and I have just given a paper at the “Global Labour University conference in South Africa on Trade unions and Climate Change. Our paper was called “An International Worker-Farmer Alliance to save the planet”, My partner wrote the key section on ‘Agroecology v.Agribusiness’ I wrote the physics and politics sections. We conclude that we must have a paradigm shift from the ” Descartes-Newton paradigm of the age of Capital to the “Marx-Einstein paradigm” for an eco-socialist age[ Einstein of dialectics of Quantum theory and the photo-electricity NOT e=mc**2] You can download this from Liverpool Uni website:
